Why do I have all these new, extra channels since getting my LCD tv?
I just brought a new 42″ LCD 720p flat screen television. While messing around flipping the channels one night, I learned that I had way more channels that I could access with this television. Being that I only have the most basic of cable connections, these extra channels were surprising. What was more suprising was when I flipped and came across HBO and then flipped a little further and caught an adult movie and then found the channels where they play only music from different genres and eras. I am clearly not paying for these stations because I really don’t watch tv that much. So why am I getting all of these extra channels when my cable selection is basic and previously did not go past channel 72? The weird thing about it is when I tried to go back to HBO on the same channel a few days later, that channel was no longer working but others that were not working were now catching a signal. Are these new-found channels to be expected since I upgraded my tv? Is it legal?
It is not unusual for Cable and satellite providers to provide free access to premium channels for short periods of time.
Your TV has also now a digital tuner, so you may be getting some digital channels as well.
